What is a Matrix?

Understanding the Points Matrix in Flexible Golf Memberships.

The Points Matrix is a dynamic pricing system used in flexible golf membership programs. It determines how many points are required to play at different participating golf clubs. Each club creates and manages its own matrix based on its standard green fee rates, allowing flexible members to access competitive and transparent pricing..

How It Works

Club-Managed Tariffs

Every participating golf club independently sets its own points matrix. This is based on the club’s standard green fee pricing and allows flexibility in how many points are required depending on:

  • Day of the week

  • Season (e.g., Summer vs. Winter)

  • Time of day

Dynamic Pricing Structure

Unlike fixed green fees, the Points Matrix is dynamic. It can change due to:

  • Course maintenance

  • Peak vs. off-peak demand

  • Special events or course availability

This structure ensures members use their points efficiently, getting the best return based on current conditions.

Guaranteed Favourable Rates

Flexible members are always guaranteed the most favourable rates compared to visitors paying standard green fees. This makes your points go further and helps you plan better value rounds.

The Matrix Lock Policy

When you join a club, you're placed on a specific matrix that remains fixed for your 12-month membership term. Here's what that means:

  • Locked for 12 Months: Your matrix won’t change during your membership year, providing stability and clarity.

  • Beneficial Changes: If the club lowers its points matrix during your membership, you’ll automatically benefit from the reduced rates. The lock only protects you from increases.

  • Periodic Updates: Clubs may update their matrix quarterly or annually. These updates will be shared with you directly and appear in your online dashboard.

Upon Renewal

When you renew your membership, you’ll automatically move to the most current matrix available at that time.

Differences Between Clubs

Varying Point Requirements

Points needed to play a round can vary between clubs—even those nearby—because each club has its own:

  • Green fee pricing

  • Maintenance standards

  • Local demand

As a result, some clubs may require more or fewer points for similar tee times.

Seasonal Matrices

Most clubs maintain separate matrices for:

  • Summer (starting around March/April)

  • Winter (starting around October/November)

These seasonal adjustments reflect changes in course usage and green fee structures.

Play Restrictions

Some clubs restrict when flexible members can use points. These restricted times will appear as “N/A” in the matrix, indicating that points cannot be used for booking during those times.

Green Fee Guarantee

Flexible members also benefit from a Green Fee Guarantee, ensuring access to the best possible rates available at the time of booking. For more information, click here.
