Understanding the Points Matrix in Flexible Golf Memberships.
The Points Matrix is a dynamic pricing system used in flexible golf membership programs to determine the points needed for playing at different golf clubs. Each participating club sets its own matrix, which reflects its standard green fee rates. The matrix helps flexible members access the most favourable rates available compared to regular visiting green fee players.
How the Points Matrix Works
-
Club-Managed Tariffs: Each golf club independently manages its points tariff, which is based on the club’s standard green fee pricing. The matrix is designed to provide flexibility for members, allowing for varying points costs depending on the club and time of play.
-
Dynamic Pricing Structure: Unlike fixed standard green fees, the points matrix is a dynamic system where points requirements can vary. These variations are influenced by factors such as course maintenance schedules, peak demand periods, and other considerations that affect course availability.
-
Guaranteed Favourable Rates: Flexible members are assured of the most favourable rates compared to non-members paying the standard green fee. The matrix allows members to utilise their points in a way that maximises value and choice.
- Matrix Lock Policy: When you join a club, you are locked into a specific matrix for the entirety of your 12-month membership period. This matrix remains in effect for the full duration unless there is a beneficial change.
- Updates and Changes: Clubs may update their matrix periodically, either on a quarterly or yearly basis. If your club makes changes to its matrix, we will communicate these updates to you.
- Renewal Process: Upon renewing your membership, you will automatically be placed on the most current matrix available. Notifications regarding any matrix updates will also appear on your online dashboard during the checkout process.
- Beneficial Reductions: If a club reduces its matrix during your membership period, the matrix lock policy does not apply. In such cases, you will be moved to the new, more favourable matrix immediately.
Variations Across Clubs
-
Differences in Rates: Neighbouring clubs may have different points tariffs, which reflect the unique circumstances at each club, such as the quality of course maintenance or current demand. This means that while some clubs may require fewer points for a round, others may cost more depending on these factors.
-
Play Restrictions: Certain clubs may have restrictions on when flexible members can play. These limitations will be shown as "N/A" (not applicable) in the matrix, indicating times when flexible membership points cannot be used for booking.
The matrix can vary by season, with clubs typically maintaining separate matrices for Summer and Winter. The transition between these seasonal matrices usually occurs around March/April for Summer and October/November for Winter, depending on the club's schedule for updating green fees.
