To obtain an official golf handicap, the following requirements must be met:
-
Rounds Played: You need to complete 54 holes of golf. This can be achieved through:
- Three rounds of 18 holes, or
- Six rounds of 9 holes.
After each round, your scorecard must be attested (verified) by your playing partner, who must also be a member of a golf club.
-
Affiliation Fee: If you haven't done so already, you will need to pay an annual affiliation fee to your club in order to have your handicap officially registered. This can vary from club to club, and encapsulates insurance, and county fees.
Your club may also require levee payments, which go directly to the club. These fees could cover benefits like bar discounts or club maintenance.
Additional Information for Everyone Active Club Members
If your club is managed by Everyone Active, please note the following:
- The club has separate golf sections for Men, Ladies, and Seniors.
- If you wish to compete and obtain a handicap, you must join the appropriate section.
- Men's Section: The fee for joining the Men's section is £50, with an additional affiliation fee of approximately £20.
Alternative Option: Handicap Through England Golf or Wales Golf
If you prefer not to compete within your club but still want an official handicap, you can register through England Golf, Wales Golf or Scottish Golf. This allows you to participate in open competitions across the UK. Please note:
- There may be an extra charge for entering each competition.
- Fees vary depending on the competition and the hosting club.
This option provides flexibility if you're more interested in open competitions rather than club-specific events.
